Beginning September 4, 2006, the Gina D’s Kids Club®, a nationally syndicated television series, is expanding its presence on Public Television Stations across the country
through a partnership with WPBT-Channel 2 in Miami. As part of that
expansion, Gina D developed an innovative community outreach initiative
called Gina D’s Reading Across America Program, or Gina D’s RAAP for short.
Gina D’s RAAP Inc non-profit organization dedicated to helping all children,
but especially underprivileged children who can experience the motivational
benefits by attending a Gina D’s RAAP LIVE event.
The show was created by Emmy Award Winning producer Joey & Bernadette DiFrancesco and developed with input from two early childhood educators Dr. Janice K. Battenberg and Dr. Mary Beth Leidman to
provide age appropriate themes and content that addresses the
developmental needs of children ages 2 through 6. Through Gina D’s RAAP
LIVE events, children have their excitement about reading stimulated, parents
and children are encouraged to read together each week, and good literacy
habit development reinforced through the promise of visits to the library and
book/bookmark giveaways.
Gina D is the star of the Gina D’s Kids Club® program that is produced in Longwood, FL
and airs on over 233 television stations across America. As a
communications graduate of University of Central Florida and a mom herself,
Gina understands that all learning becomes open to children through reading.
Therefore, she wants to do her part to advance literacy by motivating children
to develop a lifelong love of reading.
