Gina D's Reading Across America Program

R.A.A.P. stands for Reading Across America Program. Gina D® understands a “life long” love of reading is established by developing skills in early childhood. Gina D visits museums, theatres, libraries, and science centers to promote reading and education by encouraging parents/caregivers to read at least one book a week to their children. The goal of R.A.A.P is to help all children, especially underprivileged children, have the opportunity to attend Gina’s LIVE R.A.A.P. Sessions which emphasize the importance of literacy as well as strong family relationships.

Simon Wannabe, Kids Club Explorer, welcomes everyone in his original way and then introduces the audience to a special viewing of selected scenes from award winning Gina D's Kids Club®, "Journey to Land of Dinosaurs." Simon then introduces the live Gina D who comes out singing the upbeat “Good News” song. Gina D then explains that in order to be able to read, you need to learn your “ABC’s” and begins singing her new hit, "Let's All Learn to Read, Read, Read."

Gina D then reads her original story book titled, “Hammy Learns about Dinosaurs” with a special visitor, Hammy the Hamster, joining Gina D and the audience (children) for the reading. Hammy is one of the puppets from the show!

After reading her book, Gina D asks each child in the audience to ask their parent(s) to sign a special Reading Promise Certificate. Gina D closes with the “Do the Cuddle Bug” song. The event is approximately 55 minutes long.

Benefits After The Performance:

Gina D would like parents to get involved with educators and sign a special Reading Promise Certificate with their own child promising that they will read at least one book a week to them and take them to their local library each week for a year!

After the show, each child receives (through their teachers back at the classroom) a free copy of the Parent Reading Promise Certificate, “Hammy Learns about Dinosaurs” Story Book, and a Just Read, Florida! book mark.
